Chief Sam Foster

Chief Foster has been with the Whetstone Fire District since 2008. Sam graduated from Benson High School and immediately began his fire service career as a volunteer firefighter before being hired on as a career firefighter soon after. He attended Pima Community College and earned his Associate of Applied Science in Paramedicine in 2011. He went on to complete his Bachelor of Applied Science in Organizational Leadership at Arizona State University.

Chief Foster grew up in the community of Whetstone and has spent his entire life here. As such, he feels a strong personal commitment to serve the residents, his family, friends, and neighbors. In addition to the duties of his position, Chief Foster is an active participant in the SEACOM Operations Committee, the San Pedro Valley Regional Training Committee, and the Cochise County EMS Association, and he serves as Chair of the Cochise County Fire Association.

CFO Cathy Dyer

Chief Dyer has worked in Fire Service for 19 years. She began her career with the Whetstone Fire District in 2004 as a Volunteer Firefighter, quickly promoting into a Reserve Firefighter position in which she was a very active member assisting in multiple areas of the district to include administration and finance, thus leading to her current position today of Chief Finance Officer. Appointed by the elected Officers of the Fire Board from Office Manager to The Chief Finance Officer of Whetstone Fire District, Cathy oversees the financial activities of the district. to include; routine clerical, bookkeeping, accounting and administrative work in accomplishing the financial and/or administrative functions of the district.
